In 1939 Vultee Aircraft Division of AVCO (Aviation Corporation) reorganized as an independent company known as Vultee Aircraft, Inc. In 1941 Consolidated Aircraft was sold to AVCO. In 1943 Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation, generally known as Convair, formed by the merger of Consolidated Aircraft and Vultee Aircrat and it was still controlled by AVCO. During its existance, it built 44 different models of aircraft including 2 Fighters, the P-54 and the P-66, 4 Attack aircraft, the A-19, A-31, A-35 and XA-41 and 2 well known trainers, the BT-13 and the BT-15.
