"Los Angeles Times Playground Aircraft League"

In the late 1920's the LA Times publishing a section to promote the interest of children in aviation much as they now promote an interest in sports. In that era there were no model airplane stores or supplies available. The Times got balsa wood, piano wire and glue to the parks and helped hire people to help young boys to make model airplanes.
