Resort Airlines Pilot Wing
Miami, FL 1945-1960
Resort Airlines, originally from Southern Pines, NC, was the pioneer of the Inclusive Tour Charter, a unique experiment by the CAB. The airline combined a round trip flight, ground transportation and hotel accomodations. This operation originally was confined to New York State but in 1949 was expanded to include the Caribbean as well as other prime routes. In 1950 Resort Airlines acquired Nationwide Air Transport Service, an irregular carrier. The inclusive air tours was unsuccessful on a large scale. After sporadic attempts to try scheduled service and Logair contracts, the company shut down on July 1, 1960.
