Western Pacific began flying on April 28, 1995. The airline was profitable until the Value Jet and TWA 800 accidents and they were on the verge of bankruptcy. Western Pacific formed a regional subsidiary, Mountain Air Express to increase their market. On June 29, 1997, the airline moved to Denver, CO to gain better access to business travellers. Western Pacific's losses esculated and the company filed for Chapter 11 bankrptcy on October 5, 1997. The airline received investor money and kept flying however, it could not be rescued and service ended on February 4, 1998.
