Frontier Horizon was formed in August 1983 as a non-union affliate of Frontier Airlines. Flights began on January 9, 1984. The airline quickly ran into trouble with its name. Horizon Air of Seattlethat the names were to similar; the CAB agreed. A new name, Fronter Discovery, was selected. The operation proved too expensive and the airline's assets were sold to Skybus.
