Dallas, Texas  2000-2001

Legend Airlines was formed in 1997 to operate point to point service from Dallas-Love Field to major business centers. The controversial Wright Amendment restricted most interstate commercial operations at Love field to aircraft with 56 seat or less. Because of this, there were many legal battles between Love Field, the city of Ft. Worth, American Airlines, and the Texas court system.The airline finally received its certificate on April 5, 2000 and operated its first flight. American Airlines competed against Legend and financial problems followed. Legend Airlines suspended operations on December 2, 2000 and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They continued to fly charters until February 2001 when it was ordered to cease operation by a bankruptcy court.
